Recently Stylist magazine published an article that focused on the British tradition of working the 9-5, and how everyday ‘21.18 million people in the UK wake up, go to work, sit at their desks at 9am then get up again eight hours later’ to do the same thing again.
I was hit by an interesting thought yesterday when speaking to David Zinger - an employee engagement expert over in Canada. He mentioned that yesterday was their annual public holiday - ‘Labor Day’ – a day “that celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers” (Source: Wikipedia).
The recent Employee Engagement Networking Event I ran in partnership with BergHind Joseph reflected the growing importance, interest and emphasis placed on employee engagement. The event attracting a number of people, most of whom were members of the over 4100 member Employee Engagement Network - a global network focused on employee engagement.
In a recent article by ‘London Business Matters’ one of the topics raised was around becoming a highly effective finance director.
